today elle finished the last race of her thoroughly awesome (first) 6th grade track/cross country career.
it's been so fun to watch her long legs get faster & stronger through the seasons.
to watch her push herself through snow and rain and in hundred piercing degree heat.
she's run in most of the boroughs, inside and outside.
last week she beat the 6th grade girls school record for long jump,
and last week also ran her fastest mile (she went from 7:29 in september down to 6:49 in june).
today she ran in our home turf of central park. as we rolled into the park and met the girls on her team just after 6am, i watched them practice running along the mall. by bethesda terrace & fountain. along terrace drive. i reminded her, again, just how lucky she is.
because it's all pretty damn cool.
