christmas 2022

christmas fell on a sunday this year, meaning we had school/work through friday the 23rd (!!!), and then an entire weekend (+ monday) off (school is out for 6 days).

it was -10 in the days leading up to christmas, and our building installed these ridiculous sensors earlier this year that put a handful of apartments on the same thermostat, and our heat doesn't kick on until the unit with the reading gets cold enough. obviously, it's a STUPID idea. on christmas the pipes in the building froze, and we were without water for 26ish hours. weird water problems are not new around these parts so around lunchtime when harvey went to play with his new toys in the bath and the water came out black, i assumed something was up and saved 1/4 tub of water. which, turns out, saved our butts (literally) because the worst part of no water and no warning for a family of 5 on christmas when everything is closed is the fact that although humans can drink a lot of diet coke, alas, toilets use a tremendous amount of water, and 5 humans do require a lot of toilet flushing in 26 hours.
we survived.
we only left the apartment once in 48 hours.
zero expectations, zero places to be.

christmas was wonderful.

holiday film to close out 2019...

it's new year's eve, and as much as i want to write all about the highs and lows of the year, and the insane things that have transpired at the close of this decade... it's just too much. good news, this is my blog. and it's been around since long before 2009, so the vast majority is covered- at least the highlights. before it feels too late, here is film from the last month- thanksgiving through christmas 2019.
au revoir, 2019.
here's to 2020 & a whole 'nother 10 years.
