ahem: hand, foot, & mouth disease, 1 rude doctor, shopping, burgers, and the general young women meeting...

what a weekend, huh?

a few days after elle's fever spiked, the rash all over her body turned into blisters and welts. including massive sores (about 20) down her throat and all over her tongue. the bottoms of her feet were covered in sores, as were her little hands and sweet little face. oh! my baby! the doctor confirmed our suspicions, and diagnosed "the worst case of hand, foot, and mouth disease [she'd] ever seen." we have no idea where it came from, but she's getting much better! when she said her mouth hurt i assumed it was a molar- oops. apparently it was lesions on her thoat. sorry, elle! thankfully, she was able to eat and drink still, keeping her hydrated and free from the hospital. there's no cure or medicine, so she's riding this one out.

what a week it has been! i'm exhausted. but grateful we're all healing.

after her appointment at the doctor on friday, i promised elle we'd go out for a cookie date! after crying through the doctor's appointment (her doc was unavailable, so we went to someone else. WHY do mean people decide they should be pediatricians?? i was terrified of her, let alone elle! not a good experience.), i told elle it was cookie time and she replied, "oh! i'm so happy now!" 
saturday before i went to work at the gywm, we went on a date to in-n-out- elle's request. and it's not like i'll pass that up...
the meeting last night was incredible- the messages and music were, like, through the roof awesome. and i'm not just saying that because i'm partial. 

one more week of craziness (hopefully this one is FREE FROM SICKNESS!)... 

i'm feeling a little like this... (& as of 4 hours ago, elle is too.)

so. sick.

(elle isn't sick. just is a toddler. who doesn't fancy a camera in her face. :) prayers flowing that she stays healthy...)

i caught some crazy bug. a "cold" that won't seam to break. it's been 5 days of being unable to breathe. or sleep. super lame, that's for sure. it's kind of maybe the worst time of year this could possibly happen- i am scheduled for 17 straight days of work. (it's not the first time this has happened- see 2011 & 2010. we have a history of unfortunate events in march.) 

although, i don't think there is ever a good time to be sick. 

oh, fooey.

alas, i am so excited for this weekend! and the next. 

here we go!

update: elle woke from her nap- this post was created during said nap- and she now has a temp of 103.3. so much for healthy baby. booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.  

this morning i asked, "elle, when did you get so big!?"

she replied (obviously): "yesterday, silly!"

these are some of my favorite weeks of work- but most definitely, my busiest of the year.

 last year at this time my wee one was battling RSV.

this year? she's battling... being almost 18 months.

elle has been s.t.r.u.g.g.g.g.g.g.g.l.i.n.g. at night these last few weeks.

i'm having flashbacks of when she was a newborn.

i cry in bed and think,
'why!?! why won't my kid sleep at night like those other kids!? 

why does my kid hate riding in the car!?

why does my kid hate her stroller!?

why does my kid have to  be sooo difficult!?...'

then i realize who's kid she is...

she's mine.
we're somewhat of a strange brood.

& i love her.

yesterday after coming off of 4 total hours sleep (the petersens were all awake from 2:45am on), i tried to nap.

it would have been my 3rd nap in over 10 years.

yes, 3.

i never learned how to nap, & frankly, i have no idea what to think when i close my eyes!

i just laid there and had some sleep-deprived alone-time where i over-dramatized life like usual.

multi-baby-moms- i don't know how you do it!

of course i imagine us with more kids one day, but for now?

i'm perfectly pleased with my one adorable, finicky, lovely little lady who is getting bigger & bigger by the instance.
time is going by. so quickly, it's nearly maddening.

 here she is yesterday. a little lethargic, can you tell? :)

we painted nails.

then she laid down on the floor and watched 'tinkerbell' for the 9th time since 4am. she also ate an entire carton of strawberries (that's normal).

over the weekend, we played.

played & ate & danced & shopped.

elle cleaned the floors at home depot. she's just so generous.
i'm a lucky lady.
i need to remember that.

hello sunshine!... and mean ol' rsv.

here we are last week on a walk...
thankfully it's been warm enough,
we can sneak out for a bit each day.
fresh air feels so nice since
rsv finally caught up to our wee one.

oh, what everyone says is true:
there is nothing worse than a sick baby!
(mmm... other than that sick baby
getting her mom & grandma sick, too.
rats.)
please, please go away evil sickness!

i'm working full-time
as we approach the weeks before
general conference &
the general young women meeting.

we're crossing our fingers that the sunshine will continue,
& health will return very soon.
until then?
lots of hot showers,
a house full of warm mist humidifiers,
many many kisses,
very little sleep,
& a whole lotta prayers!

just because it's funny.

elle likes to eat feet.
mike's feet in particular.
